“Norway was incredible and inspiring in so many ways—and the light, the skies, the way color filters through at those northern latitudes definitely found its way into this movie.” –Dean DeBois, director
But yo, check out my psychogeographic map of Paris. We were supposed to essentially get lost and draw our experience. So I drew a bunch of moments from my first night in Paris when we wandered around a lot: the love lock bridge, Notre Dame, a pigeon eating rice off Jess’ head, a flame throwing street performer, the Shakespeare & Co. bookstore, the mock beach along the Seine river, the 5€ gyro we ate, and the rose shaped gelato I devoured. I tore up some textured paper and sewed the scraps together, then drew in charcoal pencil, outlined in china marker, and sewed the path with red thread. I also artfully tore some of the edges to get rid of extra negative space. I was annoyed with the assignment until I was actually doing it and it was a lot of fun!
We had to make a conceptual map of getting lost in Paris. I started at the Pantheon, walked by a cinematheque, a bunch of Asian food restaurants, a Salon de The, and then crossed a lock bridge. We found a fire spinner outside of Notre Dame and then went on to find an artificial beach on the Seine along with a Eiffel Tower made of chairs. following the light of the real Eiffel Tower we walked by the Palace of Justice and down and touristy area with shops and food. We got flower petal ice cream and went back to the hotel!
